Officina Profumo-Farmaceutica di Santa Maria Novella was born as a Dominican friars’ convent in Florence, Italy in 1221. Since then, we select nature’s finest ingredients to give life to authentic, beauty-seeking routines for the home and the body.
Come to any of our stores or shop online our newest Eau de Parfums, Eau de Colognes, soaps, candles and skincare and bath products. The historical location, of Via Della Scala 16, Florence and also the very first operational site for the Maison, it is today a boutique museum where history brings alive the magic with care, savoir-faire, elegance and we are committed to preserve, and evolve, a heritage like no other.

This is one of the best stores I’ve visited in Italy. If you love perfume, soaps and lotions this is the place you should visit! It’s quite literally the birthplace of perfume and hold so much history. The place in itself is beautiful, has frescos on the ceiling and it’s part of the Santa Maria Novella cloister. I was received with a complementary bergamot ice cream that was to die for. I purchased 2 perfumes one vainilla-scented and one of gardenia. I can’t stress how amazing the smell. They are not brand perfumes, you can’t find them anywhere else! Hence the prices are not for everyone. The ingredients seem very “natural/organic” nothing artificial about those scents. I also discovered the rose water toner for the skin. It’s now a staple of my skincare routine. This place is a must in your Firenze trip!

This shop, the main SMN store, is like a miniature cosmeceutical museum. While the space is small, it offers a glimpse into the history of Italian monasteries and pharmaceuticals. Highly recommended. I've been using this brand's skincare products for over 10 years, and their rose toner is especially highly recommended. Besides using it as my daily toner, if I ever get a scratch from a rove beetle or break out in an itchy rash or eczema, simply dab on the rose toner and it'll be gone in two days (at least, it won't itch at all). This isn't just a gimmick or brand name skincare product; it truly works.
